With over 20 years of broadcast radio and media experience, Jose Santos is President and Founder of Santos Latin Media, Corp. Prior to joining Border Media (as a consultant and corporate programmer), he worked with Univision Radio (formerly Hispanic Broadcasting) as Program Director for KLVE-FM Los Angeles (where it became #1 Radio Station in the general market), before that, he programmed KISF-FM, KQMR-FM and KLSQ-AM (where KISF became the first Spanish language station to reach #1 Status, Total Market in Las Vegas history). With Hispanic Broadcasting, Jose assisted in several markets with guiding programming (in a consultant role) in San Diego, San Francisco/San Jose, Phoenix and Fresno. Jose also programmed and operated stations in Chicago, IL; Bakersfield, CA; Fresno, CA; Dallas-Fort Worth, TX and Houston, TX with other broadcasting companies.
Jose Santos has received numerous nominations for PD of the Year and Stations of the Year in several different markets (including Las Vegas, Bakersfield, Fresno, Chicago and Los Angeles) by Radio and Records.
In 2003, was named Program Director of the Year by Hispanic Broadcasting/Univision Radio.
In Spring 2004, KISF-FM (Las Vegas) became the #1, most listened to radio station in Las Vegas, NV becoming the first Spanish Language radio station to be #1, Persons 12+ by Arbitron, Inc.
In Fall 2005, KLVE becomes the #1, most listened to radio station in all of Los Angeles and Orange County (Los Angeles Metro), Persons 12+ by Arbitron, Inc.
In 2005 and 2007, KLVE is named Spanish Station of the Year and given the prestigious “Marconi Award” by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB)
In 2005 & 2006 was listed as one of the Best Program Directors in America by Radio Ink Magazine.
In 2007, KHHL-FM named Spanish Station of the Year by Radio and Records.
In Spring 2008, KRYP-FM becomes the #1, most listened to radio station in Portland, OR (becoming the first Spanish language radio station to be #1, Persons 12+ in a “non-traditional Hispanic market” in the country, by Arbitron, Inc.).
In 2008 named of one of the Best Programming Consultants by Radio Ink Magazine.
In 2008, KXXS-FM (Austin), KRYP-FM (Portland, OR), and KLBN-FM (Fresno) are nominated for Spanish Station of the Year by Radio and Records (under the same category… Santos Latin Media consulted radio stations get 3 out of 5 nominations).
In 2008, KXXS-FM was named Spanish Station of the Year by Radio and Records.
In 2009, KBDR-FM was nominated for the prestigious “Marconi Award” by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) in the category “Spanish Station of the Year”.
In January 2010, KWID-FM (Las Vegas) becomes the first Spanish language radio station to become #1, Persons 12+ with Arbitron PPM methodology, in the General Market, in the United States (the first Spanish language station in the country to be ranked #1 under the new PPM methodology).
